Event #3 is in the books results will be posted next week
3/29/08
So much has happened in the last few weeks, I must apologize for the late posting of results.
Our first event of 08 has come and gone and it was a smashing success, 24 drivers decent weather and much fun. Our thanks to the Port of Ilwaco for their hospitality!!
The bad news is, we had learned a few days prior to the season opener that our site at Deep River had been leased by Tillamook Fiber, however in talks with the site owner, it was felt that the new lease holder was supportive of our activities and we would continue to be able to use the site, at least until the 3rd quarter. Unfortunately as is often the case lawyers got involved, with the outcome being our use of Deep River is suspended for the duration of the lease (up to 2 years).
This leaves our season in a bit of a quandary, the May date is firm, and our April date is looking OK as we are in negotiations with several different sites for those events and feel at least one will likely be confirmed in the next few days.
Our mid summer dates are up in the air at this time but we plan having a full season, just be flexible as to the location, we will be trying out some new places!!
The main casualty of this is Come Home Alive driver’s school. Because we had rescheduled it once already, and we now no longer have a site and would have to re schedule it AGAIN to get a site suitable for the class. Add to that multiple schedule conflicts with other groups and overall uncertainty as to when where what, and the extreme late date, we felt it was necessary to cancel this years class. There WILL be a race that weekend, just not in Seaside or Deep River.
Driver’s school will be back next year for sure!!
Hang on for more news and information as we get it confirmed.

Winter has passed. spring is around the corner and our first event starts tomorrow!!!
10/21/07
WOW
Rarely in 20 odd years of autocross have I attended an event that has generated so much excitement, and interest. The smackdownd was a HUGE sucsess, 7 teams almost 70 cars three days of fun. congradulations to CARFREEKS.Net, who ran strong and came out on top in the final points.
The "PRO" class was marred by some confusion and controversy, but being as it was a first event, all players were good sports, and vowed to come back next year and settle the matter. AND THERE WILL BE A NEXT YEAR.
Look for the rules and class structures to change slightly, additional events, and allot more teams cars and parties.
By now class champions have gone and come home from the oregon shootout, congradulations too all.

Smackdowns A-Comin!!!
OK Bible Creek is over, Rained out on Sunday but on Saturday yours truly re-set a record that has stood since 2000 (yeah!!!) among 8 other records to fall. Club members Emalee Newby and Charles Cope also set new course records in thier respective classes. So 3 out of 5 members entered set new records, and 3 0f the 10 total records were NWAA members, not too shabby. Sonny Smith set a new overall "door slammer" record with an incredible 2:06 run.
And now on to the Smackdown weekend, September 21-23.
During our early Promo for this event, a number of people in the racing comunity have expressed an interest in runing teams in the Smack Down, seperate from the UCF/TSDNW gang. A sort of "PRO" class. This seem only fair as a number of the guys from the other clubs are fairly new at autocross, and that is over 50% of the score, seems hardly fair to turn Them Pimm's and Charles Cope loose on them.
This event seems to be a prelude to a larger event next year that would be open to any club in a "round robin" style competition.
But send me an email and tell me what you think.
A site clean up day is scheduled for Saturday the 8th of September, and we will need volunteers to help out in keeping records and scoring the various clubs.
Road trip weekend is next weekend August 17-19th and our next meeting is Wednesday September 12th
6/06/07
Notice to all members wmc bible creek has moved to the following weekend because of endangered species issues? nwaa meeting will be moved to wednesday to facilitate club members travel to hillclimb.
next event coming up in one week Deep River should be a fun weekend.

Miscellaneous ramblings of the President
WOW!!!
This season is screaming along, we have had 2 events since my last post, and what events they were.
Ocean run 4 downtown Seaside, what can I say to describe it Awsome!!! 48 cars hundreds of spectators great weather, an event thta ran pretty much without a hitch, except for one timing light issue. Will it happen again? I dont know. there are many many aspects to consider, but we had a good safe event, with minimal complaints. could we do it again? sure. the convention center ahs given us a tenative date of MAY18 2008 But alot depends on other people. We have yet to have a student or students approach us about the project for next year, we need more support from the local school districts, and the city of seaside has to sign off on it, so we'll see.
Season opener @ Deep River, terrible weather, but still had 19 cars roll out for the opener at the river, great fun was had and a good course set by Bill Cardwell. Many thanks to Terry B Bill, Chris Newby And Chris Morley for showing up to help Bill out when he was short handed. And A HUGE THANKS to the gang from TSDNW who helped out all weekend.
Big NEWS the June event @ the River will be one of our biggest ever. The NW Datsun club will be our guest on Saturday the 16th. Dave the NW Datsuns president expects 25-30 classic Datsuns, which would make it one of our biggest ever events, all hands on deck for this one.
And Bigger Even Yet September will be the Ultimate Car forums VS TSDNW Smackdown challenge.
this 2 day event will include acceleration testing, a drift exibition and an autocross to determine the bragging rights on the NET for the whole winter. everyone who is anyone will be there.
Until next time SEE You at the track.

Wow, Season is fast approaching. Only one month away!!! Lots of exiting things happening. We have confirmed our first 2 dates at the Port of Ilwaco, and we will be holding a fundraiser for the Ilwaco Fire department on Sundays at both these events. You may not know, but the city of Ilwaco fire department itself caught fire this winter, and they lost almost all their equipment. NWAA is doing what it can to help pay for those replacements.
Additionally we are holding our first ever Points Championship series, and more details will be posted soon on our FAQ page, but make note of the weekends, cause you gotta do 6 out of 8 events to qualify, and you have to be a member, so get those renewals and new memberships in real quick.
The Tillamook site is still pending, as is our Seaside event site for the drivers school. keep your fingers crossed we will know by next months meeting for sure.
Deep River is still available, but we dont know for how long, so keep looking for good event sites.

Next event is set for Deep River lot on September 23- 24 our road trip weekend is tenatively set for September 15-17, SCCA will be in town for rally cross Aug 20th and September 17th, lots happening.
Well time flies in the summer. Since last post we have had 2 major events and 2 meetings. Our new meeting place is the Rolling Thunder restaurant at the foot of 10th street in Astoria, right on the Waterfront. Great place, with a motor sports theme, and good food (BBQ) Last 2 meeting there have been very popular Look for an NWAA display area where members can post pictures and trophies etc soon.
Last meeting Aug 11th Membership voted to raise enty fees to 20 and 25 dollars respectivly in response to low car counts at this summers events. We have added pre registration as an option, and kept that at the previous amount's. We need to up our car counts to 20-30 cars to keep going, bring out your freinds and lets race. Watch web site for PAYPAL link to be up next week.
8/4-6 Bible Creek Hill climb WMC:
Many members from NWAA participated, in fact there were more NWAA members on the hill than WMC members, Good weekend no injuries, but more wrecks than any one can remember see the WMC page for results
The Clatsop fairgrounds event was a real eye opener, although we had a small turnout, we got a much faster than expected course out of the space, and all had fun.
